AWARD WINNING POET, GEORGIA ME, TO HOST WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT EVENT
WITH RISING PHOENIX ABUSE RECOVERY COACHING™
Atlanta, GA — Multi-award winning poet Georgia Me will host the first annual Sweet Peach Soirée: An Empowering Celebration of Women’s Sexual Wellness in Atlanta this fall. The purpose of this inaugural event is to foster dialogue that promotes healing from the trauma of sexual abuse, assault, and intimate partner violence, and addresses the disproportionate impact of HIV in the black community.
The Soirée is a production of Rising Phoenix Abuse Recovery Coaching — a full-service coaching practice that specializes in empowering survivors to overcome the long-term effects of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse. Launched last year by personal empowerment coach and Stone Mountain resident Benir Pierre, Rising Phoenix has quickly grown into a trusted source of healing and community for survivors.
Ms. Pierre is no stranger to the arduous journey of healing from trauma. “As a survivor of childhood abuse and molestation, I’ve found that the lessons I’ve learned can serve as a powerful beacon to others on the same path,” she shares. “I was inspired to create Rising Phoenix to help other survivors discover the transformative power behind their pain and live a life on fire!”
As part of Rising Phoenix’s mission to build awareness, the Soirée will feature a panel of well-respected sexual trauma and relationship specialists, moving performances by local artists, and more. “This will be an unforgettable night of healing for more than 100 women,” says Ms. Pierre. “Having Georgia Me, who is such an inspirational powerhouse for women, as our host is truly the icing on the cake. We’re beyond thrilled that she’s agreed to join us.”
Georgia Me’s list of accolades include Tony, Emmy, Peabody, BAAFTA and Kuumba awards, as well as appearances on The Today Show, Def Poetry Jam, Last Call with Carson Daly, and The Monique Show. Her movie credits include Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail, and a number of independent films. Most recently, she has toured as the opening act for Grammy-Award winning artist, Jill Scott.
The Sweet Peach Soirée will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Phillip Rush Center in Atlanta, Ga. Tickets are on sale now. Get all the details about the event here.
